(Silver Ridge Pottery)
Lee Marshall makes classic porcelain vessels. They are fired in a reduction atmosphere to 2350 F. This allows Lee to get the vibrant red, shino and ash glazes for which she is known.
Lee would like you to use all of her pots in your daily life so they are all microwave and dishwasher safe. Most of Lee's work is sold at galleries and gift shops throughout the country. You can find a gallery near you by visiting her Web site. Lee spent 30 years as an engineer and operations manager before becoming a potter. Pottery started as a hobby with most of her production going to family and friends. It was only after everyone had too much pottery that Lee began to sell her work at local art fairs. When someone game her money for pots she couldn't give away, her eyes were opened to many possibilities outside the grind of "Corporate America". So she and her husband paid off their house, bought 10 acres in Lebanon, TN and designed and built the house and studio. Now Lee uses her engineering background to develop new glazes. "I haven't looked back. It's nice to finally figure out what you want to be when you grow up" says Lee.
There is always a pot of coffee or a jug of sun tea handy, so stop by the studio for a visit. You an pet the dogs and get a lesson in relaxation.
